A Benefit Concert to Raise Money for LI Service Dogs

In the spirit of the season, we are coming together for a fundraiser to support one of our Long Island colleagues and friend who is in wheelchair and are in need of Service Dog.

Service Dogs assist a variety of disabilities, performing such tasks as picking up items, opening & closing doors, doing laundry, turning on and off lights and much more.  Moreover, these furry, four-legged friends provide a level of independence that cannot be substituted with equipment or medical aids. Money raised at this event will assist in the placement Service Dogs with ECAD’s Long Island clients. Although each ECAD Service Dog costs $25,000 to raise and educate, clients do not buy or pay for the dog. This $25,000.00 is raised totally by contributions, grants and donations, primarily cultivated by ECAD. Clients are asked to raise the necessary funds needed  ($8,500) to attend a two- week training session at ECAD’s main training facility in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and the follow-up care the client may need during their life together

Monies raised from this event will benefit Donna Burke in raising the funds for her second service dog (Haley, her first, is 12 and must be retired soon) and continuing her journey to greater independence. Any additional monies raised will allow ECAD to help other Long Islanders in need of Service Dogs.

The evening’s program will include a brief overview of general information on ECAD (www.facebook.com/ECADServiceDogs), 50/50, great raffle prizes, food, and music provided by The Road Kings (www.facebook.com/TheRoadKings1).CASH BAR.

Please note:  This is a FREE Event to attend but our goal is to raise money, so please make checks payable ECAD,  cash will also be accepted with receipt given at time of donation.
