Up to $2,000 is now available to anyone who decides to “drive clean” in New York State, those who purchase all-electric or plug-in hybrid cars. This rebate program is added to the existing federal tax credit of up to $7,500 already available to buyers of these types of vehicles.
Governor Andrew Cuomo launched this $70 million Drive Clean Initiative this Spring to encourage the growth of clean and non-polluting electric car use in the state and promote the reduction of carbon emissions in the transportation sector.
"Reducing vehicle emissions is a critical part of this administration’s efforts to fight climate change and reduce New York’s carbon footprint,” Governor Cuomo said. "These highly-anticipated rebates will make electric vehicles more affordable and accessible.”

And, if your home is solar-powered, of course, your electricity is free, so you not only eliminate gasoline costs but your plug-in electricity costs (ask us for our article in Sunny Times, Autumn 2016, “Electric Vehicles + Solar Power, Perfect Together”). By way of reminder, Built Well Solar installs the EV charging stations needed for these vehicles in homes and buildings. Contact us at info@builtwellsolar.com or 516-695-1000.
