LI Matters - August 2014


Recap: We were looking for energy (fighting off the dog days of August) and we got it!!! The goal is to build a marketing tool (internet TV) that brings the LI Business Community value!!! Hopefully better people's businesses, hopefully do good stuff in the community!!! ....   LI Matters kicked off our premier episode with 26 year old (we got permission) Garden City entrepreneur  Lauren Talt - Treemendous Florist - discussing  the challenges of being a business owner, the pros and cons of networking, flowers (of course) & we started the coordination of Lauren meeting up with The  INN - Interfaith Nutrition Network  (22 homes on LI, helps 65,000 Long Islanders per year) to teach some Flower Arranging courses. Dorian Stern are you there? Nice!!!  ... If Lauren's beautiful flowers weren't enough to light up the screen (they were), she was followed by the incredibly talented, human ray of sunshine, Abstract/ Performance artist Elise Drake. Elise discussed getting out there, not being afraid, her hope (in the most loving way) that everyone understands their intrinsic value AND as we were going to break - totally surprised/ awed us with a beautiful, amazingly accurate portrait as a gift. Thanks Elise!!! :  ) We concluded show with our good friend/ marketing strategist Jodi Jacobs - Crystal Vision Marketing. In addition to ALWAYS bringing her positive spirit, Jodi provided us with top quality marketing  thoughts and helped introduce LI Matters: August 2014 Networker of the Month .... Tai Vicari!!! In the past month, despite having to still rebuild from Sandy; Tai started 2 North Shore Networking groups, signed up to be a fighter for LI Fight for Charity .... and not just this month but for many years, Tai epitomizes what being a great networker is all about!!! Congratulations Tai!!! You win Dinner for 2 at Ciao' Baby!!! (Massapequa or Commack) Thanks CB!!!

Jacklyn Ciccone's story:

Jacklyn Ciccone is 35 years old and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April of this year. She lost her father only 10 months prior after his 3 year battle with Pancreatic cancer. Needless to say she’s become far too familiar with cancer and its life altering effects. She has already undergone a double mastectomy and partial reconstructive surgery. She is currently undergoing Chemotherapy and after that is finished she will need to have her ovaries and tubes removed. Her only son will be a year old on August 31^st. As you can imagine the bills are mounting and will continue to grow.
