Retiring? Be prepared ! Make a checklist!
So, my question to those of you who are working in a mid-to-large sized organization is, “When was the last time that you checked with your HR Department to confirm your years of service”?
In your mind, you are certain that you have been with your organization for a specific number of years. Pretty simple, right? Well, don’t wait until 3 months before you decide to retire to check in with your HR Department to see what is in your organization's documents of record. If both of you do not align, your potential retirement benefits could be affected.
